Course info
The specific educational objectives of the Degree in Computer Engineering aim at the acquisition of the skills necessary for the design, implementation and management of information processing and transmission systems, the management of telecommunications networks, the automation of plants, the management and safety of IT systems and, in general, all the high value added applications typical of today's information society. The course provides a broad spectrum training, firmly grounded in engineering disciplines such as math and physics. It therefore addresses the specific methodologies and techniques of the processing and transmission of information applicable in production facilities and public and private bodies. The course outline is designed to enable students to choose whether they prefer to acquire computer skills rather than telecommunications skills, without compromising the access to the subsequent 2nd cycle Degree courses in the field of Computer Engineering. The student is given the skills necessary to operate effectively within public and private facilities and, thanks to the particular attention paid to basic subjects, a general preparation sufficient to rapidly acquire and adapt, also autonomously, their competences to the changing needs of the labour market.
- self-employment as analyst, designer or tester of information systems and computers networks; designer of software or software parts; - employment in public or private agencies, such as hardware and software companies, information systems companies, design and production of data processing and transmission systems, providers of information services and, at large, wherever information management systems and networks are required. - further studies with direct access to the 2nd cycle degree course in Computer Engineering or Telecommunication enginnering.
To obtain the degree, students must have acquired 180 credits including those relating to the final examination (3 credits). The final test has the objective of assessing the level of maturity and critical skills of the undergraduate, with respect to learning and to the acquired knowledge, on completion of the activities provided by the course syllabus. The final examination consists of a written or oral test, in accordance with the rules fixed every year by the Degree Course Regulations for the final examination, respecting and consistent to the calendar, the ministerial requirements and to the relevant Guidelines of the University.
