The 2nd cycle Degree course in Mechanical Engineering aims to train young people eligible to work in public and private research centers, , and professional activities of high scientific and technical profile, also supporting industrial or university research; particular attention is paid, in line with the cultural vastness of Mechanical Engineering, as it has established itself over the decades, both nationally and internationally, to its typical three aspects: the design, manufacture and operation of mechanical artifacts . These educational objectives will be achieved through a process of structured training, which, after the joint acquisition of the necessary mathematical insights, and concepts related to statistics, electronics, and automatics, will address in particular: - with regard to the project, issues related to the "design" of mechanical machinery and equipment, the mechanical characterization of traditional and innovative materials, the analysis of voltages and non-intrusive measurements; - with regard to production, issues related to machining and also thermal treatments of metallic, plastic and composite materials, the organization of industrial production and quality control; - with regard to operations, issues related to continuous and non continuous combustion, as in internal combustion engines, of cogeneration and energy saving plants using compressible fluid machines, of refrigerant systems and their relevant operating displacement machines.

Final examination features

The final examination consists of the public discussion, in front of an examination Board, of an dissertation prepared by the student under the guidance of a supervising Professor. The test is designed with the aim of enabling the candidate to demonstrate his mastery of the subjects, its ability to act independently, and to effectively communicate the results obtained. The dissertation topic is chosen by the student, with the help of the supervisor, and approved by the Board of the Degree Course. On passing the final examination students acquire 9 credits, and its evaluation contributes to the determination of the final mark.
