Course info
Graduates should acquire: 1.General background in the business-economic, general economic, mathematical-statistical and legal fields, necessary to acquire a first critical awareness of structures, functions, processes and systems of all business types (private, public and non profit ones), with respect to their conditions, from constitution o the termination, and the main events of operation; 2. The most important theoretical and technical issues of economic and business subjects, with respect to: - The institutional and administrative areas of organisation, management, survey and governance; - The respective most important functional sub-areas (personnel selection and training, job description and evaluation, decision-making and responsibility models, etc.); - finance, Marketing, production, distribution etc; general and analytical accounting, budgeting, cost analysis, management control, planning, reporting, etc; business strategies, general and specific policies, etc: - Their applications to the most popular classes of companies by sector (industrial, commercial, services and public administration), by size (small, medium and large), to technology (backward, mature, advanced, etc.). 3. Specific professional competences underlying the above mentioned professional opportunities; 4. Basic computing skills and written and spoken knowledge of two European Union languages, besides Italian. The principles of the University system, the educational objectives of the class and the specific objectives of the course drive the educational programme to the best possible balance between the demands of methodological and content training (to be finalized towards subsequent and higher educational programmes, such as, in particular, first level University master courses, specialist courses, 2nd cycle degree courses, second level University master courses and PhD programs, as well as lifelong learning) and the skills and abilities which could be more or less immediately employable in the labor market. Moreover, the diversity of disciplinary and interdisciplinary business subjects, on the one hand, and the professional and geographical variety of possible job opportunities in time, on the other, makes it quite difficult to design such an educational programme. Therefore, the course pursues more compatible solutions that are fully consistent between orientations, towards cultural education, skills of the professional preparation and professional training. For that reason these solutions must also be flexible, through a continuous monitoring of the quality of training and constant interaction, always in the best interests of the studies, with the various paramount social and institutional stakeholders. This degree course is the only one in Class L-18 and provides solid basic and class-specific training, useful for any successive articulation of the course (in curricula, training packages and the like). The constraint of the twenty exams, including the final one, involves teachings awarded with 6, 8, 10 and 12 CFU; a maximum of two of the 12 credit courses might be articulated into modules of 6 credits. More specifically, the course is divided into two semesters per academic year and, within the "technical" constraints of law and aiming at a fair distribution of the areas, sectors and credits over time, it is distributed as follows. qualifying educational activities ex DM 270/04 (basic and specialized in the DM 509/99) prevail in the first year, plus: - Business Organization; - English language, which can better facilitate many of the subsequent activities if it is placed at the beginning of the course and as a self-consistent teaching. The second year provides other core training activities, the class specific and the elective activities and, above all, the above mentioned articulation of the course (in curricula, training packages and the like). The second year provides the last core training activities, class specific, related and elective activities, as well as other activities, also related to the final examination (DM 270/04, Art. 10 , c. 5, letter. c) or to other activities (ibid., letter. d)
Employment companies of all legal nature (private or public), production of goods and services size (small, medium or large), territorial character (local, delocalized, transnational, etc..), technology used (backward mature or advanced), etc.. providing one or more hierarchical levels for these functions in their organization or in private employment (assistance, representation, protection and the like) or public institutions (planning, coordination, control and the like) that deal with the above classes of companies . Self-employment (more or less continuous and coordinated collaboration), individual or team counseling and practice of the following regulated professions: 1) Auditors (Section B of Certified Public Accountants and Auditing), after the relevant training and national qualification examination; 2) Labour Consultants, after at least two years practical experience and national qualification examination. Further studies with a 1st cycle University Master Course, in economic - business sciences.
Under the regulations for the final examination of the degree course, and in reference to Article 29 of the Educational Regulations of the University, students must pass a final examination. The final test aims to assess the competence of the student on a topic related to one of the subjects of the course and consists of the presentation and discussion of a short written paper. To be admitted to the final examination, the student must have acquired at least 20 working days before the date set for the session of graduation, all credits required by the course outline, with the exception of the credits allocated to the final examination, which are acquired at the time of the test. The short paper, or part of it, may also be prepared at other public and/or private Italian or foreign institutions and companies, and accredited by the University of Palermo. The supervisor must be a teacher of the degree course, of the scientific sector related to the topics of the paper, or a professor of an elective course. The student will discuss, in the terms provided in the Regulations, their paper before a Board of Examiners.
