The course aims at the knowledge and solution of all planning and design issues related to environment and land.
Graduates of this course will be, in particular, capable of:
a) Analysing and interpreting environmental data;
b) Using techniques and tools to design components, systems and processes aiming at environment protection and soil defence;
c) Identifying the areas at (chemical, industrial and geological) risk of the region, with respect to land protection against natural events and human activities;
d) Evaluating the environmental compatibility and sustainability of plans with respect to the laws in force;
e) Participating in the definition and management of town, regional and environmental plans and of plans for the use and exploitation of sanctuaries and natural parks.
The course provides a deeper understanding of issues related to land (monitoring, protection and control techniques), as well as environmental pollution (monitoring, prevention and reclamation). Such programme offer a common bulk of core subjects and of class specific subjects, during the first two course years: students acquire, in the first year, basic competences in core educational areas, (mathematics, physics and chemistry) and deepen their competences in English language; the second year provides advanced training in class specific ambits such as Hydraulics, Construction Theory, Geotechnical Engineering, as well as other educational activities.
The third year focuses on specific methods and techniques of Environmental engineering.
The educational programme enable graduates to access the 2nd cycle Degree course in Environmental Engineering.
