Course info
The course aims at educating engineers with sound basic engineering groundings, upon which they may build, in accordance with the selected curriculum, specific management engineering or computer engineering skills. The course provides the competences needed to work effectively within public and private facilities and, thanks to the strong attention for core disciplines, it also provides adequate cultural groundings for the autonomous acquisition and upgrading their competences for the changes of the labour market. The common programme provides basic knowledge and competences in: mathematical analysis, geometry, physics, chemistry, computers, as well as specific subjects such as engineering economics, statistics, operation research, electrical engineering, automatic control, quality management and product development. With respect to specific competences, the ones provided within the curriculum in management engineering are: technical physics, construction theory, industrial plants and industrial production management and business economics. For the computer-engineering curriculum, the course provides for the following specialist knowledge and competences: numerical methods, programming, design and management of databases, operating systems and computer networks.
Graduates in management engineering are engineers with high-level technical and professional competences, capable of spending these latter in manufacturing and service companies as well as working as business consultants. They represent and answer to the always increasing need for soft skills, being multifaceted professionals, with sound technical and methodological groundings with a deep understanding of business phenomena, thanks to the engineering approach to management and organization issues. Therefore, they may find many professional opportunities in the following fields: manufacturing and service companies, public administration, finance, consulting, entrepreneurial activity. Graduates in computer engineering may find the following professional opportunities: - self-employment as analyst, designer or tester of information systems and computers networks; designer of software or software parts; - employment ion public or private agencies, such as hardware and software companies, information systems companies, design and production of data processing and transmission systems, providers of information services and, at large, wherever information management systems and networks are required.
It consists of the presentation of a specific topic in front of a specific board appointed in accordance with the University Educational Regulations. The exam aims at ascertaining the technical-scientific groundings and communication skills of the candidate. The topic, proposed by the candidate, is assigned by the Board of the Degree Course and is related to class specific issues. The final examination is awarded with 3 credits.
