The course aims at training professional educators with high capabilities of organising and managing the educational processes, and capable of designing , coordinating and evaluating highly specialised educational programmes. The course is divided in: - Class specific educational activities related to pedagogical and teaching-methodological subjects, philosophical and historical subjects as well as to psychological, sociological and anthropological subjects; - Other educational activities, related to other themes and subjects, aiming at integrating pedagogical sciences with the study of other sciences (experimental physics, information processing systems, literary criticism and comparative literature, English literature, demo-ethno anthropological subjects, theoretical philosophy, moral philosophy, aesthetics, history of philosophy, general and special pedagogy, experimental pedagogy, psychology of development and education, social psychology, dynamic psychology, medieval history, contemporary history, complementary mathematics, general and applied hygiene) and at guiding the curricular path towards the needs of the labour market. During the course, students will have the opportunity to experiment on their own, through specific educational activities, the close observation of crucial aspects and issues of their future professional role, acquiring, in an empowerment logic, and to the educational programmes set for during the educational planning phase, or to their personal interests and competences, useful knowledge for the labour market. The specific educational objectives of the course are related to the acquisition of advanced knowledge and competences needed to operate as professionals of pedagogical sciences, mastering the bases of other subjects - philosophy, history, psychology and sociology - contributing to the definition of the conceptual framework and favouring its application in various educational and training contexts. More specifically, the 2nd cycle degree in Pedagogy focuses on the research in the pedagogical field, and to the construction of learning and evaluation tools, as well as to the construction and planning of educational programmes. Professional educator s will enter the educational field as external experts in public educational institutions, in the processes of analysis of educational programmes within private contexts, in the research for success factors of educational programmes, in the guidance for educational choices, in the relations among educational processes in family, school and social contexts.

In accordance with the educational objective of the course and with the expected learning outcomes, the final examination consists of an articulated final dissertation demonstrating the achievement of the specialisation objectives. The dissertation, written under the guidance of a supervising professor, should investigate a research plan or an innovative theoretical element; it should be accompanied by a detailed and updated bibliography and will be discussed in front of a board appointed by the council of the Degree Course and approved by the Dean of the Faculty, in accordance to the Faculty and Course educational regulations.
