The 2nd cycle degree course in Science of public and private administrations and organisations aims at providing students with advanced knowledge and adequate multidisciplinary methodological competences in institutional political-social, economic, juridical and managerial subjects for professionals with high planning, organisational abilities and capable of developing qualified activities in public and private services, and namely in the field of business administration and management, work and human resources organisation, deviance, safety, prevention, defence and social control, as well as of trade union polices, equal opportunities and consumers protection. The course aims at training not only executives and senior management of public administration as well as of agencies, private companies and SMEs, but also professionals and manager capable of relating and mediating both with the public administration and with privates. Graduates of this course will also be able to operate at high levels, in accordance with legality and ethicality principles, both in public and private administration. They should be able to promote and implement activities and initiatives of public and private intervention through the good functioning of administrations and the improvement of services quality, for the economic and social development of the area, not only at local and regional level, but also in an European and international perspective, in accordance with the principles of efficiency, effectiveness and economy. The acquired competences will enable graduates to interpret, plan, manage current change processes in public administrations as well as in service and resource organisations. The course provides for two different curricula (one curriculum is centred on private administration governance and development, the other focuses on public administration governance and policies), with teachings aiming at the acquisition of specialist competences in important areas of administration and at providing a critical, comparative and practical in-depth study of issues related to public and private administration. In particular, the course provides for contents such as legal informatics, telematics and information law, statistical data analysis, political economics (microeconomics for business), European administrative law, emerging governance models, criminal public administration law, political science (local governance), general and economic sociology, labour law. Their positioning in a comparative perspective and the use of the most recent international literature characterise and unify the formulation of various teachings. Graduates of this course should also be able to use, in written and spoken form, at least one European Union language, with respect also to subject-related vocabularies (not only through specific language training, but also through the use of books, texts, documents and teaching materials in foreign language). To improve practical learning and to facilitate the entrance in the labour market, the course provides for specific external educational activities at public and private, national and foreign organisations, through specific agreements with public bodies and interested professional organisations. It is worth pointing out the cooperation with local authorities and with the organisations, companies and business of this sector, aiming also at the definition of specific training and educational programmes. The educational programme ends with the preparation and discussion of an original dissertation, written under the guidance of a supervising Professor belonging to the Faculty, at the end of a guided project, or research or case study, demonstrating the command of subjects, the knowledge of at least a foreign language, the capability of autonomous work and good communication skills.
The course has been expressly designed to train executives and senior managers of National and public administrations, (for instance: Local Health Services, City Managers, Police, Prefectural offices, Banks, Insurance companies, etc..), officials of political parties and trade unions, executives and managers of associations to protect consumers and citizens (public ombudsmen), professional consultants and business administration experts The course aims in particular to train technical consultants and experts of trade union and political parties policies and policy experts as well as experts of work and human resources organisation.
It consists of the preparation and discussion of an original written dissertation under the guidance of a supervising Professor, chosen among Faculty members, at the end of a guided planning or research work or of a case study.
